Understanding the PP Categories
PP Homopolymer
PP Homopolymer is commonly used for injection-moulded products, raffia applications, woven sacks, household products, sheets and industrial components.
PP Impact Copolymer
PP Impact Copolymer provides improved impact resistance and is widely used in automotive parts, appliances, containers, luggage and durable moulded products.
PP Random Copolymer
PP Random Copolymer is valued for its clarity and flexibility. It is commonly used in transparent containers, medical products, housewares and specialised packaging.
Potential Impact on the Domestic PP Market
The RIL PP price increase may influence short-term procurement activity and prevailing Polypropylene offers across India. The impact may vary depending on the category, grade, quantity, availability, supplier location and freight cost.
- PP Homopolymer buyers may see procurement costs rise by approximately ₹2.50/kg.
- PP ICP and RCP buyers may experience a higher increase of approximately ₹3.50/kg.
- Traders and distributors may revise their fresh market offers.
- Higher replacement costs may influence spot-market quotations.
- PP deemed export prices remain unchanged under the latest revision.
What Should PP Buyers Do?
Buyers should verify the latest category-wise and grade-wise PP prices before confirming new orders. Stock availability, applicable taxes, dispatch location, freight and payment terms should also be considered while comparing offers.
Since the revision differs between PP Homopolymer, Impact Copolymer and Random Copolymer, buyers should confirm which price increase applies to their required grade.
